Nameplate artwork approval: text, codes, dimensions and mounting holes

What should be checked before approving nameplate artwork?

Short answer

Check exact wording and units, model and serial formats, text sizes and contrast, selected material and finish, mounting holes and attachment, plus the version being approved. A Design Studio preview or export is not an automatic production approval.

Validate data before judging appearance

Model names, power ratings, voltage and safety notices must come from customer-approved equipment documentation, never from the sample artwork. Confirm the exact encoding and readability of QR codes, barcodes and variable serial numbers.

  • Proofread spelling, numbers, units and language variants character by character.
  • Check symbols, fonts, smallest lettering and scanning conditions.

Review geometry and materials in context

Check width, height, thickness, corners, hole diameter, hole spacing, adhesive and rivet locations against the equipment. Any special surface performance requirement must be separately agreed in an engineering specification or sample review.

  • Check mounting orientation and expected reading distance.
  • Record artwork revision, changes and approval evidence.

Keep approval stages separate

Quotations, artwork approvals, production instructions and payment records should have separate evidence. Example logos or certification symbols do not establish ZERUI authorisation or certification. Customers must supply artwork they are authorised to use.

  • Export from Design Studio, retain the revision and proceed through formal proof approval.

Follow-up questions

Is the online preview production-ready artwork?

Not by itself. Dimensions, lettering, process and revision require explicit approval.

May a certification symbol be copied from a reference image?

No. The right to use the mark and the certification's applicability to the actual product must be verified.

When should variable serial numbers be validated?

Before artwork approval, define the fields, format, range and verification method.
